Layla "Mandycka" Johnson is a Canadian artist with a passion for design and illustrations.
A Black Canadian artist, and descendant of the Wellington County, Ontario pioneers. Her ancestors escaped slavery in America through the Underground Railroad, and lived in the first African-Canadian pioneer settlement in Ontario.
Most of my work has been an ode to love, spirit, our ancestors and our connection to all things. I enjoy creating pieces that reflect on nature, particularly the Earth mother, for she is not just a symbol but a vital energy manifested in earth's many landscapes and her link between spirit and nature brings harmony and balance.
Through my work, I hope to inspire others to take a moment to appreciate the wonders of the world and to recognize our interconnectedness.
